The "father" of the God of War series and Twisted Metal creator, David Jaffe, stated last November that it was difficult for him to imagine himself as the creator of a new game. Jaffe's previous studio, Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency, closed after the disastrous release of the competitive shooter Drawn to Death. But the game designer mentioned that he does not exclude the creation of a small project.
David announced on his Twitter about an unusual plot horror for a single passage, a key feature of which will be a fresh approach to the narration through gameplay.
The budget game is designed for passage within 3-4 hours. The author says that at the age of 45 he can't play games like Assassin's Creed or Red Dead Redemption 2, so he likes small projects. Among his favourite games of recent years, he calls Inside, Limbo, Firewatch, Blackwood Crossing and Life is Strange, which may give rise to the idea of the scale of his project. Jaffe doesn't believe in the tremendous commercial success of the project, but he calls the game "what he would have played."
Now Jaffe is engaged in writing a design document for the project and, by his personal admission, is already in love with the game. Nevertheless, while the developer didn't tell anyone about what exactly he was working on, there is no funding for the game right now. Jaffe kept the project secret, working without the support of investors and a clear understanding of what will happen in the end. According to the author, such uncertainty made the development of the game "stressful" and even "scary."
