How to install Fallout: New Vegas Mods
Fallout is a pretty cool game that lets you explore a vast amount of land in search of new cool things. That said, installing this mode into Fallout: New Vegas is a pretty easy thing to do. In fact, it works in a similar way to pretty much anything that you install outside the automatic downloaders. Once you download the files, just place them into the "Data" folder which you will find the directory where you have the actual game installed. For example, it can be something like D\Program Files\Games\Fallout New Vegas\Data. However, if you are using steam to download your game then it will be located somewhere within the steam folder.
Once you out the new file there, Windows will let ask you if you like to overwrite the files, which you should respond by pressing "OK". That said, it is definitely advisable to make your own copy of the Data folder before you start modding your game because you never know what will happen. After all, the last thing you would want is to lose all the progress you've made throughout the game just by screwing up something. That's why just play it safe and create your copy.
Fallout Mod Manager
If you are reading this, chances are that you probably either use or at least have the plan to use a lot of mods. Even though that's not really advisable because of its kind of ruins the game, many people are using tons of mods in order to make their game unique. If you are one of those people, it is definitely recommended that you use the Fallout Mod Manager. This is a very easy and fast way you install and uninstall different mods without you having to go through the trouble of doing it.
In order to set it up, first, you need to download and install the program itself. This is a pretty straightforward job so you can't really go wrong. Just keep it in mind that you need to use WinRAR or other similar types of programs in order to unzip the file because you will download it as .zip. Once done, it's is highly recommended that you create a separate folder for this mod thingy because it will be easier for you to keep track of it. When you are ready, just extract the file there.
If you did all the steps we mentioned above, it's now time to open the file manager. Upon starting it. look for the option called "Packet Manager". Once you open it, use a button called "Add FOMod". This will open the so-called "file browser" where you have to find the exact mod that you want to add in the game. Just keep it in mind that you can only choose one at a time so make up your mind before deciding on what to do.
After you selected the specific mod that you want to use, it should be displayed in the Package Manager window. If the box there is ticked, this means that the mod will be active. Congratulations, you are ready to begin your journey!
Useful Fallout: New Vegas Mods That You Can Use
Apart from the manager that we mentioned above, there are many different mods that are worth trying out. We will list some of the most famous below in no particular order.
New Vegas Script Extender
This is again very useful to those who want to have a lot of mods at the same time. Unfortunately, this number is pretty limited as default, which means that you need to find other ways of achieving it. Luckily, the New Vegas Script Extender Mod allows you just that. It will basically extend the game's script so that it will allow you to use a nearly infinite amount of mods at the same time. Pretty cool, right?
Mod Configuration Menu
This is yet another lifesaver that can save you tons of time and headache, allowing you to change the settings of your mods without having to leave the game. Needless to say, this is an absolute must to have as it will make your life a lot easier. The Mod Configuration Menu will add a special management page to the pause menu that will allow you to do the magic without having to close the game.
New Vegas Anti-Crash
Unlike the other things we mentioned above, this mod aims at preventing the game from crashing. As you know, Fallout: New Vegas can be pretty buggy from time to time, which is why this thing comes in handy. That said, the developers assured players that it should be bug-free very soon. Until then, make your life easier by using this.
Mission Mojave
This is again related to what we mentioned above. Unfortunately, Fallout: New Vegas is a game that has a lot of Buggs, similar to some other titles of the same publishers. Luckily, the community really loves this game which is why a bunch of tech-minded players decided to create the Mission Mojave, which aims at removing some of the most annoying bugs in the game. Sure, it might not fix absolutely everything but it's definitely a huge plus having it.
4GB New Vegas
Fallout: New Vegas is a pretty cool game, there is no arguing that. However, it is possible that you get a lot of "texture glitches", especially in some small places. That's due to the fact that the game has not been optimized all that well. So, unless you have 16+ gigs of ram, chances are that you are going to experience this at least a couple of times.
That said, we have the answer for you - 4GB New Vegas. This is a special tool that allows you to load the game and "limit" its memory usage to just 4 gigs. It's literally a lifesaver in some cases.
New Vegas Redesigned
It can be pretty hard trying to explain what this mod is all about. Let's just say that it focuses on "refining" every single NPC in a way to make them look better. For example, if there is someone who, lore-wise, has been in a fight, you will be able to see some of his scars. In other words, this mod makes everything feel more alive and real.
Even though it's not necessary to use it, it is still pretty cool because it basically allows you to have a better view of the game and thus, it becomes a lot more enjoyable.
NMCs Texture Pack for New Vegas
Are you tired of watching the same thing over and over again? Do you want to change things around without switching your favourite game? Look no more, NMCs Texture Pack gots you covered! This amazing mod allows you to pretty much use a new skin on all of the high-definition textures in the game. In other words, it will completely transform your game experience of the better. You will be able to see new items, trees, buildings, and all other cool objects.
Wasteland Flora Overhaul
Fallout: New Vegas is a pretty awesome game, there is no arguing that. However, some times it might feel a little bit dull, especially in certain places of the game. Sure, this is related to the overall lore of the game but still, it will be great if we can change some stuff. Well, the Flora Overhaul brings you just that. You can add up to 100 different types of trees, plants and other vegetation into the wasteland, which will make it look a lot more appealing than usual. In addition to that, there are various other options to choose from. Definitely get this one because it will enhance your in-game experience by a lot.
Nevada Skies
People often complain about the different graphic elements in this game when it comes down to trees and other "land" objects. However, no one seems to care about the sky, when you are spending the vast majority of your in-game time outside.
If you feel like you need to change the sky so that it looks better, Nevada skies gots your back. It will allow you to choose up to 300 different color variations, including different types of clouds as well. In addition to that, you can even change the weather effects. If you feel like it's a good time to have a nice and big sandstorm, you have the power to "summon" it.
Fellout N.V.
If you ever played Fallout 3 before, you should be familiar with this mod. It allows you to remove the annoying green thingy that often shows up upon everything you use. Sure, it might not be annoying for everyone but in most cases, people will want it to get removed.
Fellout N.V. for Fallout: New Vegas works in a similar way, which means that you can change this colour with something else or just remove it. It all comes down to your personal preferences.
ELECTRO-CITY Relighting the Wasteland
One of the biggest downsides of Fallout: New Vegas is that the game is pretty dark. There are literally no lights whatsoever, which is pretty strange because as you know, Las Vegas is all about the fancy hotels, casinos and all, which means that there are tons of lights.
Well, now you have the ability to change all that. By using ELECTRO-CITY, you will be able to add new lights in pretty much every location that you see fit. Just be careful not to ruin the overall look and feel of the game. After all, it's all about the post-apocalyptic theme, so you don't want to change this into a theme park.
The cool thing is that once you light some things up, you will see that they look a lot better compared to when you look at them in the dark. So, this mode helps you even get better graphics in a way. We definitely recommend you give it a try.
TitanFallout
After taking a look at the "enhancing" mods, let's see some of the other types that can pretty much change the game from the ground up. First on our list is TitanFallout, which is probably one of the coolest things because it allows you to add giant robots for you to fight against. Needless to say, the entire idea behind this mod is to resemble Titanfall, one of the most popular games in the last couple of years.
Apart from adding new enemies, this mod also adds new weapons and gadgets that you can use such as Titan Drop. This is a pretty cool weapon that summons a companion to fight by your side for a certain amount of time. Apart from fighting, Titan Drop can also helo you climb over obstacles.
Project Nevada
This is probably one of the most refined mods you can get for the game right now. That's due to the fact that Project Nevada is made by the team that created Fallout 3's Wanderer Edition. In case you never played the game, let's just say that this is something that you can't live without.
Here, this mod allows you basically change New Vegas into a new game that has more challenges, cool places, and other stuff. In fact, this mod goes even further because it gives you the opportunity to choose which components of it you want to install. This means that you don't need to add extra challenges if you don't want to but you can still change some of the locations in the game.
Some of the best changes that you can do are using Cyberware and Rebalance. The first thing allows you to add different types of bionic stuff, which will make your life a lot easier. On the other hand, Rebalance completely changes the RPG system in the game.
New Vegas Enhanced Camera
Similar to the mod we mentioned above, this one is yet another essential that you really want to have. Have you ever wanted to change the different camera angles so that you can experience more or just make it easier for you? Or you just want to good around floating around?
The New Vegas Enhanced Camera offers you just that. Feel free to explore the different options and choose which one works best for you. Just remember, if you don't like it, you can always change it in the future.
New Vegas Bounties
This mod will add a little bit more fun and competitiveness to the game. New Vegas Bounties, as the name suggests, allows you to hunt down and kill the various different criminals in the Mojave Westland. You will come across various nasty people such as smugglers, drug dealers, raiders and more.
Just be sure not to underestimate anyone because you will see that they are very hard to take down. However, if you succeed, you will be able to get a pretty solid reward for it, which will make it worthwhile. Just remember, safety first!
A world of Pain
The last mod on our list is for all those who want to seek new challeneges in the game. This mod allows you to add up to 110+ locations in New Vegas, which is a guarantee that you will have tons of new stuff to explore and do. What's more, the devs also said that they will be adding new stuff as time goes on.
