Steam has blessed us with a new sale exclusively for fighting games, here are the ones we think you should check out

PC gamers already know how this goes: July and December are the months when all their hard-earned money goes towards amazing games on Steam. This is because, in both months, the online game retailer holds huge sales for both the middle and end of the year. Games that have sat on your wishlist for months will finally be available for an affordable price. But, this year has seen something a little different as Steam has graced us with another huge sale: the fighting game sale!

Some of the best fighting titles are available for ridiculous prices, and I can imagine that most gamers are salivating at the prospect. The sale is from the 12th to the 16th of November, 2020 (Monday). So, you have the entire weekend to figure out what you want. That said, one of the biggest issues I have always had with Steam sales is one of choice: What games do I go for? A lot of times, I rack my brain in hopes of getting an answer, and I end up buying a couple of games and then second-guessing myself on the wisdom of my purchases. For this reason, I have taken the trouble of identifying some of the best deals you can get, so you don't have to. I tried to leave out some of the obvious choices and instead focus on games that are perhaps not as popular. In addition, there are a couple of 'beat-em-ups' added to the list for good measure (not everyone wants a two-player fighting game).

So, here we go!

MK11

Mortal Kombat 11

Developer- Netherrealm studios
Price- $19.99 (60% off)

I wanted to get some of the most obvious games out of the way. While everyone is probably clued in to how good MK 11 is, perhaps not everyone is aware that it's on sale. This hyper-violent fighter is one of the most popular titles in the world right now and is available for the low price of $20. Also, the new characters introduced, including Rambo, Mileena, and Rain, make this a much more exciting prospect. Add to that the Mortal Kombat 11 and X bundle that is also 60% off, and you have a deal that you can't quite pass up on.

Tekken 7

Tekken 7

Developer- Bandai Namco
Price- $9.99 (75% off)

This is another obvious one. There was a lot of praise for Katsuhiro Harada upon the release of Season 4, mostly because of the vastly improved netcode. Therefore, there is probably no better time to get into the game. Not only that, but the addition of new moves, a new character (Kunimitsu), and a new stage means you will be getting a fair amount of content. Not only that, but if you want more, you can opt for the ultimate edition, which contains the regular game and all the content included in Season Passes 1 and 2, all for the low price of $19.99 (down from $89.99). You can also get a Season 4 pass for about $15, so why not make the move?

DBZ fighterz

DRAGON BALL FighterZ

Developer- Bandai Namco
Price- $9.59 (84% off)

I swear this is the last of the obvious choices, but how could I not add DBFZ? The game has been getting rave reviews from gamers and critics alike, and with its anime aesthetics and over-the-top nature, you can busy yourself for hours on end with this incredible fighting game. It is easily one of the best anime fighters available, and with the failure of Jump Force and the Naruto Fighters, it is great to have a shonen game that everyone can get behind.

Killer Instinct

Killer Instinct

Developer- Iron Galaxy
Price- $9.99 (75% off)

The legendary fighting game got something of a makeover after moving from Rare to Iron Galaxy. Killer Instinct is one of those games praised for good netcode, and its unique fighting system makes it one of the more impressive fighting games out there. Pick from a cast of colorful characters (both old and new) and get on a match with your friends or family. What's more, it has a killer soundtrack (pun unabashedly intended), and you can even get the game along with the official soundtrack for $10.91total.

Under night in-birth

UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe:Late[cl-r]

Developer- French-Bread
Price- $16.74 (33% off)

Under Night In-Birth is a fighter that many might not have heard of, but if you have, you will know that it is an excellent game that deserves its spot on this list. The anime fighter brings a cast of 20 unique characters to do battle with each other. It is also blessed with a decent story mode, a comprehensive tutorial, and colorful character designs. Besides, it has a character named Byakuya, and if you've seen Bleach, you'll know why that is so cool! So, if you want a game that maybe not everyone is paying attention to, you can do a lot worse than Under Night In-Birth. On the downside, it does seem to have poor netcode, but with talks of a rollback netcode update, perhaps you won't have to wait too long to enjoy the game in its entirety.

Nidhogg

Nidhogg

Developer- Messhof
Price- $3.99 (60% off)

Nidhogg might be the least known game on this list, but it is certainly not the least interesting. Made by Messhof, the same developers that brought us Flywrench and Creamwolf, this is a single-player game about fencing. The retro graphics bring a whole lot of nostalgia to the table, and with the option of playing PvP with other individuals, this is a game that is worth checking out.

Skullgirls action

Skullgirls

Developer- Lab Zero
Price- $2.99 (70%)

Lab Zero Games have been plagued with problems this year especially surrounding their boss, Mike Z. However, this doesn't make Skullgirls a bad game, and since Autumn Games published the game, your money will not be going to a villain as he is no longer part of the production process.

That aside, Skullgirls is an excellent piece of art with lovable characters, gorgeous aesthetics, and a jazzy musical number that is a verified jam. In addition, it comes with superb netcode, meaning online gaming with friends and rivals will be even sweeter.

Streets of rage 4

Streets of Rage 4

Developer- Lizardcube
Price- $17.49 (30% off)

If you are of a certain vintage, you would remember Streets of Rage from the original Sega. This was a game that occupied a pivotal role in many gamers' childhood, and the sense of nostalgia that accompanies this title is huge! Thankfully, the Steam fighting game sale has given us another opportunity to play this classic with updated graphics and retro music to boot. If you want some good ol' beat em up action, you can't go wrong with Streets of Rage 4.

Castle crashers

Castle Crashers

Developer- The Behemoth
Price- $2.99 (80% off)

In Castle Crashers, you play as a cute, lovable knight out to hack and slash his way to victory. This amazing 2D game is probably one of the more popular fighters on Steam, and the attractive graphics and enjoyable gameplay make it a firm favorite for many gamers. You can pair up with up to 3 other gamers and cause chaos while defeating the forces of evil in this thrill-a-minute ride that you won't be putting down in a hurry.

As mentioned earlier, the Steam fighting game sale runs from the 12th to the 16th of November 2020, so there isn't much time to pick up the fighting games you want. Hopefully, this list will serve as some sort of guide for you to get the game of your choice.
