According to Reuters, the Chinese giant Tencent, together with Riot Games, began developing a version of League of Legends for mobile phones.
It turns out that Tencent has long wanted to make the version of the famous MOBA for smartphones, but Riot Games responded to all suggestions with categorical refusals. Then the Chinese corporation went to make their own game with similar gameplay. So Honor of Kings was born and has become very popular among local players. However, it concerns only the market in China.
As for the West, another game was developed for the same reason: Arena of Valor. It turned out that in Europe, the USA and other countries such a product is not in demand, and therefore became a failure.
Creating two MOBAs, which actually used the ideas of LoL, caused regular dissatisfaction with Riot Games. Despite this, the company still decided to make contact with Tencent and gave the go-ahead to develop a mobile game for its franchise.
