Tencent is proceeding to grow its global influence in both the gaming industry and esports. Just recently, the Chinese corporation has announced an unlikely collaboration between its division Tencent Esports and the English football club Manchester City F.C.

The announcement was officially made during the conference Tencent Global Esports Summit. The partnership between Tencent Esports and Manchester City F.C. will mostly focus on Honor of Kings, which is currently being the most profitable mobile game in the world. The main goal of the collaboration is not only to eliminate the gap between esports and traditional sports but also to create a vast multicultural exchange between the United Kingdom and China. Producer of Honor of Kings, Li Min, shared a few thoughts regarding the topic:

We want to use our products to let people outside of China feel the beauty of Chinese culture. This is also the future development direction of Honor of Kings.

The choice of a sports organization was not random. Manchester City F.C. is one of the most successful English teams of recent years. Being led by the Spanish trainer Josep Guardiola, the team has won the two latest English football championships.
