Last weekend, Team Spirit completed their impressive undefeated run in ESL One: Road to Rio - CIS after beating Winstrike Team in the Grand Final.
Winstrike Team finished its Group A run right behind Team Spirit, and although they lost two games to the champions and forZe in this stage, they too passed through the Playoffs unscathed until the Grand Final.
Team Spirit’s victory in the finale wasn’t a cakewalk. Winstrike Team had a good start on Dust II, but things changed once they switched to the T-side. They lost that map with a 13-16 score. However, Winstrike Team went into the second map, Nuke, with just as much zeal as the first. Once more, they took the first half, but with a smaller margin and in the second half, they couldn’t fully take advantage of the lead. Following their impressive equalizer, Team Spirit tied Winstrike Team down as they secured the last few points to win the map (16-11), the game, and the tournament.
Here are the top 4 tournament standings:
-
1. Team Spirit - $15,000 + 1600 RMR Points
-
2. Winstrike Team - $10,000 + 1500 RMR Points
-
3. Hard Legion Esports - $6,000 + 1400 RMR Points
-
4. Virtus.pro - $5,000 + 1300 RMR Points
Two more Regional Major Ranking events remain to announce, with the accumulated points earning successful teams spots in the CS:GO Major Championships. ESL One Rio is the first of said Majors, giving CIS teams five seeds into the tournament.
ESL One: Road to Rio - Europe took place online, from April 22 to May 17, with a total prize pool of $115,000 and 13,600 RMR points.
