Team Odd has signed a contract with the Playmakers Esports squad, and it’s one of the most unexpected alliances in Dota 2 we have witnessed.
The thing is that Team Odd is a CIS esports organization, while all five members of Playmakers Esports are Peruvians. The co-owners of Team Odd are also involved in the operations of MEGA-LADA E-sports, a CIS team that has been making waves on a semi-pro level since early 2018.
The most significant result Playmakers Esports achieved so far was qualifying to the Bucharest Minor, where they took the last place with a devastating 0-6 score. Perhaps, Team Odd management saw an opportunity in the squad and decided to give the players a shot. The cost of supporting a 5-man squad from Peru should be lower than operations in a developed country in EU or NA region.
On the other hand, hard to say what stopped Team Odd from betting on a new CIS team that also shouldn’t bee too expensive.
Both CIS and SA regions are very volatile, and it’s impossible to predict if the union between Team Odd and the newly signed Dota 2 squad will survive for at least three months.
