Team Empire has won the Pro League Season 9 LAN Finals. The tournament's decisive day was held on May 19 and 20 in Milan, where the Russian team defeated Evil Geniuses with a score of 2:1 (5:7 — Bank, 8:6 — Oregon, 7:3 — Club).
As the game progressed, the Imperials played three match points, leading Oregon to overtime, where they were stronger. After that, the “geniuses” could not find the strength to fight: the third map looked like there was only one team playing.
It is symbolic that the final clutch was brought by Danila “dan” Dontsov, who had just recently joined the team. All in all, Team Empire newcomer was in many ways the “X factor”, which allowed the team to return to the game after a bad start. Therefore, all questions about how the replacement was justified, could be temporarily closed.
We remind you that the champions of Six Invitational 2019, G2 Esports, did not qualify for the Pro League final tournament, taking only third place in the European division. It was Team Empire's first true major international tournament in which the Russian team managed to win first place. The team also earned a ticket to America for Six Major Raleigh 2019, a tournament with a prize fund of $500,000.
