The Japanese FGC returns with yet another 10v10 crew battle, but this time the line was drawn not across fighting games but ages instead. That’s right, players on either side of thirty banded together in the Granblue Fantasy Versus Boomers vs. Zoomers crew battle to teach each other a lesson.

The exhibition event had a stacked lineup of players. Former teammates from past crew battles were now on opposing teams, and it seemed like both sides were out for blood. Panda Global provided the English stream with boomer commentators Andrew “Jiyuna” Fidelis and Majin Obama giving fans a play-by-play of all the action.

Here’s a look at the roster for both teams:

Team Boomers

  • AMTRS|Akihito "SCORE" Sawada

  • SANWA|Masanobu "M'" Murakami

  • Kazuyuki "KojiKOG" Koji

  • Xeph

  • Mocchi

  • CGS|Makoto

  • PG|Kei "BNBBN" Komada

  • Butter

  • Zapapoyo

  • PGW|Ren

Team Zoomers

  • EXE|Noble

  • gamera

  • Tako

  • SANWA|Lagggia

  • Buggy

  • Yoshii

  • Eguchi

  • LGK|Monster

  • Hukku

  • Suwatto

After Yoshii lost the first game, Noble jumped in to take the next couple of games for Team Zoomers. That was until BNBBN put an end to his momentum. The best-of-one nature of the matches made each game tense, leaving little room for experimentation. Each game felt like both teams were poking at one another, taking one or two games off each other at a time.

Yoshii was the first player to be eliminated in the event, followed by Buggy, Laggia, and Eguchi. Tako was able to take a few lives off the Boomers and eliminated Xeph, the first removal from Team Boomers. Next, Tako took out BNBBN and Zapapoyo before KojiKOG removed him.

The Boomers and Zoomers kept going back and forth until they both had four lives left. Here is when the Zoomers turned up the heat, with gamera eliminating the RAGE GBVS 2020 Summer champion Mocchi. He followed that win up with the removal of Butter and Makoto, leaving the Boomers with only one player left, M’

In an exciting reversal, M’ defeated gamera, Monster, and Hukku to face Noble in the final match of the event. The Gran mirror match saw both players take a round each, but in the last, M’ managed to outmaneuver Noble a few times to win the event with a nice little mixup. Ending the exhibition match at 0-1, Team Boomers taught their opponents always to respect their elders.
