Talon Esports seized victory from Machi Esports over the weekend in the League of Legends Pacific Championship Series 2020 Spring Split.
Finishing the Regular Season in third place, Talon Esports entered the Playoffs from the Quarterfinals. Their first match against Nova Esports resulted in a 2-0 victory, and they won their second match, 3-2, against ahq e-Sports Club. However, facing Machi Esports in the Winners Finals led to defeat and sent them to the Losers Bracket after a 2-3 loss.
In the Losers Finals, they faced ahq e-Sports Club once more and managed to win yet again with the same scoreline as before. Advancing to the Grand Finals, Talon Esports’ rematch against Machi Esports went differently this time. Standing on the line between success and failure, Talon Esports seemed to know what they needed to do to outplay their opponents.
The Taiwanese esports organization secured the first game, which lit a fire under their opponents, spurring Talon Esports to do better. Machi Esports lost the second and third games to Talon Esports, but they managed to turn things around in the fourth, bringing the score to 2-2. With everything hanging on the line, Talon Esports made a couple of changes to their team composition, successfully taking down Machi Esports in just over 33 minutes.
Machi Esports had topped the Regular Season, with ahq e-Sports Club following in second place. They ended the Spring Split in second and third place respectively, with Hong Kong Attitude coming in fourth.
The League of Legends Pacific Championship Series 2020 Spring Split champions, Talon Esports, earned $30,000 in prize money and would have secured a spot in the Mid-Season Invitational Play-in Stage too, had it not been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
