T1 signs Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s top-ranked player, MkLeo ⚡⚡⚡ Esports news, analytics, reviews on WePlay! The latest news on WePlay!

Prior to Frostbite 2020, PGRU #1 player , Leonardo “MkLeo” Loper Perez announced his departure from Echo Fox, after three years with them. It’s been a couple of days since that event ended and now he’s signed up with the prestigious esports organization, T1.

Known for their success in League of Legends, T1 has been expanding into other esports titles like Overwatch and now it has bolstered its fighting game roster. MkLeo joins fellow Smash Ultimate players Jason "ANTi" Bates and Sejun Park on the team, building what could become the next FGC super team.

Frostbite 2020 was MkLeo's first Major victory  of the year after he defeated Spacestation Gaming's Enrique "Maister" Hernández Solís in the Smash Ultimate Singles Final. His former teammate, who also has several victories to his name, Dominique "SonicFox" McLean, recently announced his departure from Echo Fox as well. However, he hasn't revealed a new home yet. If T1 does snatch him up, they would be well on their way to building an FGC brand with the ability to dominate across multiple fighting games.

It's unsure whether T1 is even interested in any other fighting games at this point, but MkLeo's signing assures their brand a strong foothold in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate scene.
