Nintendo released Super Smash Bros. Ultimate patch 6.1.1 yesterday, but there’s not much to it. The update only adds support for two amiibos ahead of their release.
Next week on January 17, the Dark Samus and Richter amiibos for the game will arrive. The patch notes don’t mention any other changes, but fortunately, replays from version 6.1.0 still work after updating. Local wireless play is also unavailable to those that don’t update to the latest version, so there’s still a good reason to do it if you’re not interested in the amiibo. The inclusion of Dark Samus and Richter rounds out the amiibo list of the original roster.
Its rather sad though that we don’t get any balances, tweaks or significant additions to the game with this update. If the release date for Challenger Pack 5 on the eShop isn’t a placeholder, then we will undoubtedly be getting a major update by February 29 to prepare for the new character. It’s a bit of a long wait but not worse than what we’ve endured so far.
