Capcom has revealed the next chapter for Street Fighter V with the release of Street Fighter V: Champion Edition on February 14, 2020. They announced it via the official Street Fighter V Twitter account.
Champion Edition comes with a new mechanic called V-Skill II for each character, 34 stages, 40 characters, all previously released modes, and over 200 costumes. Costumes not included in the new edition are those from brand collaborations, Fighting Chance, and Capcom Pro Tour DLC. Street Fighter V: Champion Edition is available to pre-order now at $29.99. Those that already own the previous edition of the game can upgrade to the Champion Edition at $24.99 right now as well.
Street Fighter V: Champion Edition also introduces the Street Fighter 3 villain, Gill. He maintains his classic look and shows off his new moves in a reveal trailer. Gill is available through the Champion Edition when it releases next year or in December as DLC.
All the modes included in the new edition are Story, Arcade, Team Battle, Ranked Match, and Casual Match. Not only will Gill be available before Champion Edition, but also all character’s new V-Skills and balance updates.
As its typical for Capcom to release updated versions of Street Fighter games, we knew this was coming. Although it introduces several new additions, does it really make up for all the lost momentum? Once we get our hands on the new V-Skills and Gill, maybe we’ll be able to make an informed decision.
