Previously retired Overwatch DPS player Do-hyung "Stellar" Lee has been signed by Boston Uprising. The former Toronto Defiant player retired after participating in Overwatch League stage 1.
Stellar began his career playing for DeToNator.KOREA before joining O2 BLAST and then O2 Ardeont. He later made the move from Overwatch Contenders to Overwatch League by joining Toronto Defiant alongside three other teammates, where they competed in OWL 2019 stage 1.
OWL contracts contain a retirement clause which freezes the contract, putting the player's and team's obligations to one another on hold during the season. If the player decides to return during that season, salaries and benefits will resume, as well as their status as an active member on the team. If the player accepts an offer from another organisation, the interested team would have to pay the associated buyout fee.
Since Stellar retired after OWL season two stage 1 and stage 4 is scheduled to begin on July 25, the Boston Uprising most likely paid this sum.
