StarSeries Season 6 just started

CIS region welcomes CS:GO pro in Kiev.

With few days layoff of players, after an ESL ONE New York and Blast Pro Series in Istanbul, we are back with another CS:GO tournament. StarSeries i-League Season 6 boasting a $300,000 prize pool. The event will take place from October 7-14 in Kiev Cybersport Arena in Ukraine. Featuring 16 worldwide teams, eight of them invited directly and eight coming from regional qualifiers.

The format of the tournament is classic best-of-one Swiss stage, with the top eight teams going directly to playoffs featuring best-of-three matches, except for the final, which will be a best-of-five fight to claim the title.

As two first days are already behind, we saw some very close matchups in day one. Renegades lost their first map against CyberZen, but they have just changed their lineup, so they will need some time to come back on the top level. ENCE confirmed that they are #1 in Finland and with some time will become much more powerful for the worldwide scene. Danish new line up from North easily smashed Danish #3 OpTic Gaming 16:7 on Overpass and promising some good Counter-Strike in future, after they have changed their in-game leader and AWPer. But the biggest upset was when German team Sprout almost beat a winner from ESL NY, team Mousesports. Also German BIG lost their first map against Fragstars and representant of CIS region, Vega Squadron lost against NRG 17:19 in overtime. All result with highlights are listed below:

During the second day, teams which were considered a favourite have easily succeeded in their matches. Mousesports won easily 16:1 against CyberZen while ENCE beat DH Master winner, European mix Imperial. On the other hand, compLexity (TOP8 team at FACEIT Major) were not strong enough to win de_mirage against Renegades. And Fragsters showed their strength on de_dust2 and won 16:11 against Gambit. Last, but not least, HellRaisers lost their second map in Kiev against Chinese TyLoo 11:16 and can’t lose any other map or they will not see the beauty of Cybersport arena in playoffs.

For me, the best match was NRG vs North. If you missed it, follow the link:

The event continues today with 4 matches. Stay tuned for more information.
