Amid anticipation of multiplayer Fallout 76, which is due to go live in Beta on October 23, fans are wondering if there’s going to be another singleplayer spin-off like Fallout: Las Vegas.
According to official Twitter account of Obsidian, fans shouldn’t hold their breath because creation of another Fallout game by the studio is “Very doubtful”.
In the comments to this tweet one of the fans asked Obsidian to keep shaking that magic 8 ball until it gives a more favorable answer. Alas, the result still wasn’t satisfactory:
Fallout: Las Vegas is considered the best installation of the whole Fallout series, which started back in 1998. The game introduced additional weapons, mechanics and other improvements. It also revived the reputation system which was introduced in Fallout 2 and abandoned in Fallout 3.
Obsidian developers are quite busy even without another Fallout game to produce. The studio is reportedly working on an RPG under Take-Two led by Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, who were involved in the creation of Fallout. Some rumors indicate that Microsoft is ready to give the studio another major assignment.
Whatever the agenda of Obsidian is, Bethesda must have major plans for Fallout 76 that stretch far beyond 2019. If the multiplayer game works like GTA Online, another Fallout is very unlikely as it would just cripple the flagship game.
