Sony's State of Play shares The Last Of Us 2 gameplay

During today's State of Play showcase, Sony shared some gameplay from The Last of Us 2 and revealed the game's release date. 

In the video, Ellie is seen riding a horse through snow when she is ambushed. We then see some combat from the game as she faces enemies that seem to be responsible for the ambush. At the tail end of the video, we finally get to see Joel. It seems like Ellie is trying to get revenge for the death of her friend and an older Joel shows up to help her. 

The game will be split into two discs and Naughty Dog also revealed five editions of the game that will be available for pre-order. There's the Standard Edition, Special Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, Collector’s Edition and Ellie Edition. All pre-orders will reward owners with a crafting training manual and ammo capacity upgrade when the game launches. Those that pre-order the Standard or Digital Deluxe Edition on PlayStation Store will also receive an Ellie avatar which features her tattoo. 

The Special Edition costs $80 and consists of:

The Digital Deluxe Edition is very similar to the Special Edition but the PlayStation Store hasn't listed it yet. It includes:

The Collector's Edition comes with all the items from both the Digital Deluxe and Special Editions with extra physical goodies. It costs $160 and includes all the following:

• Digital soundtrack

• Digital version of the mini art book

• PSN Dynamic Theme

• 6 PSN avatars

• 12" Ellie statue

The Ellie Edition is the ultimate package, consisting of everything in the Collector's Edition along with a replica of Ellie's backpack, an embroidered patch and a 7" vinyl record containing music from the original soundtrack. Going for $230, supplies are limited and could sell out at any time:

The State of Play presentation confirmed that the upcoming MediEvil remaster has a demo that's out right now on PS4. There's also a new trailer that debuted, which showed gameplay of its own. 

Naughty Dog has promised to reveal more details about The Last of Us 2 on September 26, which they've named  "Outbreak Day." The long-awaited sequel will be released on February 21, 2020.
