Sony trademarks PS6 to PS10 ahead of Playstation 5 release ⚡⚡⚡ Esports and gaming news, analytics, reviews on WePlay! The latest news on WePlay!

Playstation 5 isn’t out yet, but that hasn’t stopped Sony Japan from trademarking PS6, PS7, PS8, PS9 and PS10. Gematsu discovered all the trademarks.

The trademark is nothing new for the game company as it has always trademarked names ahead of release. In the case of the PS4 and PS5, these were both trademarked in 2006. Yet, the PS4 didn't launch till 2013 while the latter will arrive in 2020. It is common practice for companies to do this and not something peculiar to Sony alone.

There is no assurance that Sony will use any of these names. It is merely a precaution in case they eventually decide to do so.

All attention is focused on the release of Playstation 5 next year, and hopefully, we won’t have reason to think of its successor for many years to come.
