SNK Corporation has announced the SNK World Championship which is an international tournament series with over ¥10 million ($94,190) up for grabs.

The tournament games are Samurai Shodown and King of Fighters XIV. Regional qualifier tournaments will be held across the world, with 16 winners from each game moving on to the final tournament. The grand event will take place in Tokyo, Japan from March 28-29, 2020.

Samurai Shodown was released on June 25 and is the first SNK game to use Unreal Engine 4. At Evo 2019, the game received 1,719 registrations even though it just came out about a month before the prestigious tournament. King of Fighters XIV, on the other hand, was released in 2016 and still appears in many fighting game tournaments.

The certified qualifier tournaments and specific regions haven't been announced yet, but SNK has stated it will provide this information soon.
