Star Citizen's developers and publishers Cloud Imperium Games has an almost literally bottomless pit filled with money. Yes, they are truly working on the game — new planets, ships, characters and weapons, a great storyline with real actors. But now they are adding sign language — American Sign Language (ASL). That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.
Could you remember any games with this language? It's awful, but you can count them with your one hand's fingers. There is an entire culture of people, who are using ASL — and videogame world lack these users. Sure, deaf people can play games, but they are not the target audience, to be honest. And now, we have a chance to be the first ones to play a game where the deaf and the hearing are impaired.
Saying more specific, Cloud Imperium Games are including sign language emotes into the game. Star Citizen received ASL with the most recent patch. For now, it is limited to hand signals, but the all-important facial cues will be added a bit later. Amazing news for all the ASL-users.
