Five former members of Blizzard, each of whom worked on Hearthstone game, created their own studio and announced a contract with Marvel Entertainment. From the video blog on the official Youtube channel, it became known that Second Dinner is currently working on an unannounced game with the financial support of the Chinese Internet company NetEase.
Ben Brode, a former game director, and Hamilton Chu, the executive producer for Hearthstone are the Second Dinner’s founders. After leaving Blizzard in 2018, the team of five people including Yong Woo, Mike Schweitzer, and Jomar Kindred, is currently creating a prototype of the Marvel's game.
“We think there’s a huge opportunity to make deep, satisfying games that are optimized for mobile, and we’re currently working on a game that we’re really excited about.”
Developers are planning to increase the number of people involved in the studio’s work with the resulting $30 millions of investment from the NetEase company in the next coming years. NetEase manages local versions of Blizzard games in China. Former Blizzard employees plan to use this investment to hire additional developers for their newly created office in Irvine, California.
It is already known that the project plan to optimize for mobile devices. There is no more specifics at the moment, it remains only to expect future announcements.
