During San Diego Comic Con day two, fans got an early look at gameplay for Marvel’s Avengers. Displayed at the Marvel Games panel, Crystal Dynamics stated that the demo footage will be available publicly in August, a week after Gamescom.
The developer showed off an extended gameplay video along with the customization menu which will allow players to unlock new skills and choose between different gear. Attendees were also informed that classic and all-new outfits will be available to use. This will allow players to create builds of their favourite heroes that are unique to themselves and fit their playstyle.
In the demo, a young girl wearing a Captain Marvel-like shirt is exposed to some terrigen mist, which could be teasing the inclusion of Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel. Crystal Dynamics director Shaun Escayg explained that Marvel's Avengers will be a story-driven game with hero specific missions that serve to change things up.
A collector's edition was confirmed by Bill Rosemann of Marvel Games, and should be available for preorder before year's end. It could even contain a Captain America model that was showcased at the panel. Marvel’s Avengers will launch on May 15, 2020.
