Schedule for Day 1 of Flashpoint Season 3: Team Vitality vs. Double Poney - Astralis vs. OG

The schedule for day 1 of Flashpoint Season 3 covered by WePlay Esports.
Flashpoint Season 3, the first European RMR event, starts today! Buckle up, because although these are the first matches of the tournament, they're bound to be juicy.

First up is a French derby between the giants of Team Vitality and the unsigned underdogs of Double Poney. Vitality is always a scary foe with Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut on the server, but the squad has been struggling a bit as of late. It's worth mentioning as well that this is Vitality's first showing with their new youngster, Jayson "Kyojin" Nguyen Van, who will be stepping into the shoes of Le Tank Cédric "RpK" Guipouy. Double Poney, on the other hand, have been on the rise since the squad's formation. The ragtag gang of French misfits will continue to field Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt as a stand-in for Flashpoint 3, and the veteran's experience may prove to be crucial in this important tournament. Will Team Vitality, with their new anchor Kyojin, be able to find their stride, or will the underdogs of Double Poney topple the French titans? Only time will tell.

Later in the evening, the stars of Denmark, Astralis, will be battling it out verus the international side of OG. Just a few weeks ago, Astralis would've been the heavy favorites to win the match, but following the recent roster changes, it's outcome is unclear. Astralis was dealt a heavy blow when their star player, Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz, joined Ninjas in Pyjamas, and have been fielding Lucas "Bubzkji" Andersen in his stead. With Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen now taking over as the primary AWPer, Astralis managed to place 5-6th at DreamHack Masters Spring 2021, so the Danes certainly aren't to be underestimated. However, it's clear that Astralis aren't at their full force, especially with the roster change being seemingly unexpected. OG, on the other hand, has looked really promising following their roster changes. Shahar "flameZ" Shushan, the bright star of Israel, has been performing incredibly since he joined the international squad, even defeating Astralis (with dev1ce) in his first official match at BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2021. Given that OG has had more time to integrate its new players and has looked in great form, Astralis might be in a bit of trouble in this matchup.
