Valve is about to announce a VR Half-Life game ⚡⚡⚡ Esports and gaming news, analytics, reviews on WePlay! The latest news on WePlay!

Valve’s own VR headset, called Index VR, is going to be officially revealed in the coming weeks. Moreover, the initial plan was to present the device on May 1, and whether or not it is still relevant, we’ll know for sure tomorrow. What’s even more intriguing is that Valve will likely announce a few VR games alongside Index, and a VR Half-Life game is strongly rumoured to be among them.

Valve News Network, the main source of Valve-related leaks and rumours, has recently found out that a Dota 2 update contained references to “hlvr” and a shotgun, which is one of the most popular weapons of the Half-Life series. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything, but let’s dig a bit deeper. Back in November 2018, UploadVR cited its own sources while revealing the first images of a yet to be announced Index VR device. Fast-forward to April 2019, and as we’ve learned, that particular leak proved to be 100% accurate. Once again relying on its own sources, UploadVR also claimed (in the very same article) that Valve was working on a VR Half-Life game. Given that the Index VR leak was confirmed, we are about to witness another confirmation.

It is also worth noting that Game Newell himself said that Valve was working on three fully-fledged VR games back in 2017, one of which is likely to turn out a Half-Life one. This is obviously just speculation and should be considered a rumour until we hear any official words from Valve.
