The community of Rainbox Six Siege must’ve sincerely loved last year’s Outbreak co-op event for the title – otherwise, there’s no reason for the rumoured Rainbow Six Quarantine game to even exist. According to the leak, it’s going to be a co-op spin-off of the series, which is reported to take the players to space.

This is another rumour shared by Jason Schreier during the Kotaku’s Splitscreen podcast. As you could imagine, Rainbow Six Quarantine is expected to be announced at E3 2019. The game is said to be completely free of competitive gameplay element; instead, the title will put the emphasis on the co-op PvE mechanics. The game began its existence as Pioneer, which was first hinted at during one of the Watch Dogs 2 missions. At that time, the project was planned as a peaceful space exploration title led by Alex Hutchinson, the director of Far Cry 4; however, the project was later restarted from scratch and turned into a PvE shooter based on Rainbow Six franchise. We are likely to fight against hordes of aliens in space, and the release is planned for the current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2020. The leak was confirmed by well-known insider Nibel, so now we have two separate sources claiming the same information.

Overall, this is a nice and refreshing take on the rather conservative tactical series – of course, if it’s indeed real. Besides, Rainbox Six Siege is not going to have a direct sequel in the nearest future and will likely re-release on the next generation of consoles – so Quarantine perfectly serves the purpose of keeping the IP in the spotlight.
