According to a report by CSGO2ASIA, Chinese social media platform Weibo is preparing to sign a CS:GO squad of its own.
The roster includes prominent players with numerous accolades, like Egor "killmatic" Storozhok, QingHui "FIOURN" Kong, and Tzu-Chi "Marek" Huang. Indonesian up-and-comer, Jason "f0rsakeN" Susanto of BOOM Esports is also reportedly being sought for the team.
If true, here's what Weibo's CS:GO roster will look like:
- QingHui "FIOURN" Kong
- Tzu-Chi "Marek" Huang
- Egor "killmatic" Storozhok
- ZhiTao "Drea3er" Zhang
- Jason "f0rsakeN" Susanto
It appears the social media giant plans to create an international squad that would help the team garner a global fan base. Backed by the reach of their platform and its 497 million active users, Weibo's CS:GO team would undoubtedly have its pick of sponsors and partners looking to leverage the power of esports.
Released in 2012, CS:GO wouldn't make it to mainland China until 2017 via the aid of Perfect World. Thanks to features like low-latency in-game servers and instant prime matchmaking, the game has grown in popularity since then.
