Rumor: The number of direct slots at Worlds 2020 will be increased ⚡⚡⚡ Esports news, analytics, reviews on WePlay! The latest news on WePlay!

A report on Korean news site Fomos.kr states that Riot Games will be increasing the number of direct slots for each region in the upcoming League of Legends World Championship this fall.

According to their source, this change would be due to the cancelation of the annual MSI off-season tournament. If true, LPL and LEC leagues would receive a fourth slot at Worlds 2020.

Travis Gafford also recently stated on the Hotline League show that his sources tell him the Mid-Season Invitational League of Legends event would be canceled. No official statements have been made yet, but each separate report corroborating this change lends it more credibility.

The League of Legends World Championship 2020 is scheduled to take place this Fall in Shanghai. However, that’s all dependent on the global health situation by then.
