Dexerto, citing information from a LongSensation insider, said that Activision and Infinity Ward plan to release a battle-royale add-on for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The release is scheduled for 2020 in the form of a free-to-play game with a separate client, which will be sharing the player's account with the main version.

According to the rumors, we get something like Blackout mode for Black Ops 4 with all of the mechanics, weapons and cosmetic items transferred from the multiplayer. Probably, the developers have decided to postpone the mode's release to balance the gameplay in classic multiplayer mode and introduce the cross-play function at the start.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be available from October 25, 2019, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. An open beta will be held in September.
