According to a report by Polygon, Riot Games has acknowledged that naming its highest rank in their upcoming tactical shooter VALORANT is a bit confusing. That's why it will be getting a new name for the game's official launch.
No mention was made regarding what the new name would be. The remaining ranks are mostly named after minerals, with Bronze and Immortal breaking the mold. In the end, Riot could settle for a more common name for the game's highest rank.
Another issue players have found with the game is the absence of much to do after hitting the coveted top rank. With no ranking system for the highest level, the best players lose all incentive to keep playing due to the lack of any new goals. To fix this, Riot will add some sort of rating system for the renamed rank s a few weeks after launch alongside the release of the competitive ranked mode.
VALORANT, Riot Games' free-to-play tactical first-person shooter will launch on June 2.
