Like many modern strategy games from collectible card games to battle royale games and now autobattlers, a certain amount of randomness is added to keep things exciting. However, unlike many of the others, Teamfight Tactics seems to have a little unfairness with its RNG.

After rushing to select your initial champion at the start of a match, every turn phase players are given a couple of champions to purchase and add to their fighting strength. Besides this, the only other room for strategic planning is the items players get and how to use them to improve their party.

So to continuously receive poor choices and in some cases, multiple duplicates, can be quite depressing. In other situations, some players get none at all while opponents will get several, making for absolutely unfair matches. However, this hasn't gone unnoticed.

Riot Games developer August Browning had this to say on Twitch about the issue. “I can’t say exactly what it’s going to be, but we’re working on it.” Unfortunately, he doesn't say when the fix will be available or what form it will take, but the fact that it's on the dev teams to-do-list is a good sign.

TFT’s open beta was recently released globally, and so far, this has been the biggest issue with the game. This issue takes away the strategic element from the gameplay experience. Hopefully, the RNG will be fixed before players begin to drop the game in frustration.
