Keanu Reeves plays Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077 who also happens to be in a band. Silverhand is the singer and guitarist for an in-game band called Samurai, which will be portrayed by Swedish punk band Refused.
They will be writing original songs for Cyberpunk 2077 and other songs inspired by Cyberpunk 2022, resulting in Samurai's greatest hits EP. This will be the first album since 2015 that Refused will work on, so fans have a lot to look forward to. The first single is already available on YouTube and was apparently the music that played while Keanu Reeves came on stage during Microsoft's E3 2019 presentation.
The collaboration was inspired by Piotr Adamczyk, one of the game's composers and a big fan of Refused. Being one of many fans of the band working on the project, he pitched the idea and management followed up.
We may not have heard the entire album yet, but Refused lead singer Dennis Lyxzén's words inspire confidence in their ability to deliver a great album that fits into the game world. "Working together with CD Projekt Red, writing music and song lyrics for Cyberpunk's chrome rock icon was fun, but also very different in the creative sense. It was an unexpected challenge that turned out to be right up our alley and really got us going. The songs turned out great and the game looks insane."
