Geoff Keighley has announced the full list of nominees for The Game Awards 2018, which consists of some heavy contenders - especially in the case of the "Game of the year" nomination.
We have a recent title from Rockstar - critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption 2, which is currently rocking in sales. It took only eight days for the sequel to sell more than 17 million copies worldwide - it's the same level of sales, which took the original Red Dead Redemption eight years to reach.
On the other hand, there's God of War - a brilliant return of Kratos by Sony Santa Monica. The game broke a few records for Sony and highly exceeded the company's expectations. There's no doubt the game has all the rights to be called the best one this year.
Here's the full list of nominees for the GotY award:
Assassin's Creed: Odyssey
Celeste
God of War
Marvel's Spider-Man
Monster Hunter: World
Red Dead Redemption 2
Both RDR2 and God of War compete in eight nominations. Aside from "Game of the year" there are seven more: "Best action/adventure", "Best narrative", "Best game direction", "Best art direction", "Best score/music", "Best sound design", and "Best performance".
The Game Awards 2018, hosted by Geoff Keighley, will take place on December 6. The full list of nominations can be found on the official ceremony's website.
