Only six days have passed since the release of RAGE 2, and the game has already taken the first line of the British retail game charts. However, according to analysts, the new game from developers from id Software and Avalanche Studios was sold four times worse than the original.
In the eight years since the release of the first part, the share of the digital segment has increased and, according to analysts, accounts for 50% of total sales. 57% of the physical copies of RAGE 2 sold were for the PS4 version, 38% for the Xbox One version and only 5% for the PC. This means that the RAGE 2 retail sells twice as bad as the original in the same period.
Perhaps Bethesda's fatal mistake contributed to this statistic: the company published the game in its store without Denuvo. In consequence of this error, Steam users were outraged that only they had to play with Denuvo, while this DRM system wasn't in Bethesda.net, the publisher released a new patch. Thus, the game was officially "was spared" from Denuvo, and the pirates did not fail to take advantage of it.
