Rage 2 new gameplay video features BFG 9000

Rage 2 probably felt like one of the most unnecessary sequels when it was initially announced by Bethesda. The original game was sort of ok, but it wasn’t even remotely worthy of a proper continuation. However, Bethesda had a different point of view – and the more we learn about Rage 2, the more it feels like a great game.

Just recently, the title has received yet another gameplay demonstration, which is once again a colourful and vigorous celebration of mayhem. The video starts with a rather arcadish post-apocalyptic vehicle action, which seamlessly shifts into the world exploration on foot. With its vivid acidic palette, Rage 2 draws the picture of a post-apocalypse as we’ve never seen it before, although it has strong vibes of both Mad Max and Doom gameplay-wise. And while we’ll definitely get back to Doom here, we should first mention the violent Grav-Dart Launcher gun, which is on display in the video. First, you shoot a burst into several enemies and then choose a designated target is the form of, let’s say, a concrete wall. All the enemies that you’ve stuffed with darts/bullets will then rapidly launch directly into that direction, and the more shots you’ve made the stronger is the momentum.

The weapon allows for impressive and inventive combos, although the real hero here is, of course, the aforementioned BFG 9000 – and that’s where we get back to Doom. A heart-warming green energy blast deals with two bosses at once – but hey, why don’t you enjoy the video yourselves?
