The tournament will only be open to professional teams and though no specific date was given, Yang did say it should begin soon.
PUBG Mobile was released in March 2018 to much success. Quick to spot this, Tencent announced the PUBG Mobile Star Challenge 2018 (PMSC) which concluded on December 1 in Dubai. Following its own success, PMCO was announced for 2019 with an initial $2 million prize pool for two splits (spring and fall), which later became $2.5 million after a partnership with Oppo.
PMCO Spring Split recently concluded with Chinese team Top Esports taking the crown. Registration for all 10 regions to compete in PMCO Fall Split has been announced for August 8.
Impressed with the game's global popularity and confident that there's still much more room for growth, Tencent announced new PUBG Mobile servers for Africa. This will ensure the game's player experience in the region will be improved.
