Prey is the chilling horror and sci-fi video game in the genre of first-person shooter and immersive sim, which has been around for almost 1.5 years since its release.
The Arkane Studios company added a new mode to the game called Typhon Hunter on December, 11. It’s free for anyone who owns the Prey: Digital Deluxe and Prey: Mooncrash expansions. The update consists of 2 modes: multiplayer hide-and-seek and a VR escape room.
The first mode is a multiplayer game inspired by Team Fortress 2 and Garry’s Mod favorite Prop Hunt. You can play with the group up to 6 friends: one as an increasingly paranoid Morgan Yu and the other five as shapeshifting Mimics waiting for a chance to pounce suddenly. Obviously, it’ll be very fun to try to hide from your friend during a limited period of time. You’ll have only 5 minutes to kill each other (Morgan’s and mimic’s teams). Mimics can disguise themselves as everyday objects such as tables, pizza boxes, and bananas. Really, it’s hilarious to watch the table, which is trying to run from you. The new mode makes the game rather entertaining, than so frightening.
The second mode is a Transtar VR, available on PC and PlayStation VR. It represents a new single-player mode, where you’ll be working as a Transtar employee, days before the events of Prey, with multiple maps. Your main purpose will be to complete objectives and solve puzzles in an escape-room-style campaign. If you’re the lucky one to have a VR headset, then you’ll be able to go for a walk around the guts of Prey’s setting in the VR museum tour too. Also, you’ll have an opportunity to check your nerves for strength in a 2019 update - Typhon Hunter VR. Try not to die instantly from the Mimics sudden attacks.
