With every spot to DPC events given out through the qualifiers, their outcome is enormously important and will impact TI seedings at the end of the year. Unfortunately, not every format is perfect and sometimes tournament organizers make concessions to preserve time or for other reasons.
Some players, Peter "ppd" Dager among them, expressed discontent towards the way MDL Disneyland Paris Major qualifiers were played. To his opinion, regions with three seeds should get second and third invite through the lower bracket. During the Major qualifier, two teams that won in the first round of the upper-bracket got the spot.
Jonathan "Loda" Berg, Maurice "KheZu" Gutmann and many other players seconded the motion.
We know that it’s up to Valve to decide how many spots each region gets in Major qualifiers, but there is no information as to whether tournament organizers have freedom of format. The fact that the Major formats are similar throughout the season, points at Valve’s control over how they are played.
Do you think the current qualifier system is fair towards its players?
