Nintendo games keep getting tons of money for the publisher

Pokemon Quest – new free-to-play game by Nintendo – set a new record of downloads. The game was downloaded more than 7.5 million times after release in May. The game is available on Nintendo Switch as well as iOS and Android. It’s also free on all platforms.

As Pokemon Company reported, the game got the first million of downloads in two days after release on Nintendo Switch.

All the action takes place on the Tumblecube island. Pokemon Quest provides you with 151 cube-shaped versions of original pokemons including Pickachu, Squirtle, Pokedex and Bulbasaur.

Similar to other free-to-play games (or “free-to-start” games as Nintendo calls them), Pokemon Quest is supported by microtransactions. You can pay real money to purchase items and sets that will speed your game progress up. So, how much money did the microtransactions actually bring?

As expected, The Pokemon Company does not share information about the profits from Pokemon Quest. But, thankfully, we got a report by independent research company SensorTower saying that Pokemon Quest earning more than $3,000,000 on iOS and Android during first release week.

Next huge Pokemon games will be Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu and Pokemon: Let's Go Eevee that are planned to launch for Nintendo Switch in November. Super popular Pokemon Go still gets new updates. For instance, the latest update introduced a version of Squirtle with sunglasses. Sweet!
