Persona's Joker and Dragon Quest’s Hero amiibo release date revealed

Jul 15 2020 2 min read

Persona's Joker and Dragon Quest’s Hero amiibo release date have been revealed.

Following Min Min's reveal for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Nintendo also announced the arrival of amiibo for Persona 5 and Dragon Quest XI's protagonists, Joker and Hero, in Fall 2020. The developer has now shared the exact date fans can get their hands on these new items.

Releasing on October 2 (September 25 in Japan), fans will be able to add two more Super Smash Bros. Ultimate amiibo to their collection. While it would have been even cooler to see Joker with Arsène, he still looks dapper in his Phantom Thieves outfit alone. Hero also appears like he's surveying the horizon before he jumps into action.

If you treat your amiibo the same way you do your Pokémon (gotta catch 'em all), then good luck, as the real test is purchasing one before they all get sold out. As they're both characters from RPGs, Smash Bros. fans may have to contend with fans of their original franchises during the hunt for the new amiibo.

Nintendo's amiibo have been around since 2014, and for the uninitiated, they're more than just toys. Equipped with NFC (near field communication), amiibo also serve as storage and communication devices for the Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch. Compatible with particular games, they reward players with additional in-game items to sweeten the pot.

Joker and Hero are the first Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC characters to receive amiibos of their own, with Banjo & Kazooie, Terry Bogard, and Byleth of Fighter Pass 1 arriving sometime after.

Min Min joined the roster just over two weeks ago, but fans will likely have a long wait before she and the rest of Fighter Pass 2 receive amiibos of their own.
