The most significant addition in Overwatch 2 is the PvE story mode, which takes place after the events of the first game. Even with the ongoing war, the game world still seems a bright and happy place.
In an interview with Game Informer, Overwatch 2 lead writer Michael Chu explained that the new campaign mode would focus on all the things that happened after Winston sent his message from the opening cinematic in the first game. Fans will get to see who answered his call, who didn’t, and learn more about them through their interactions with each other.
Before Overwatch 2, the game’s lore has been shared through media like comic books and videos. The story campaign will give players a more in-depth look at the world and characters they love. Chu states that players will get to experience the game’s story from the different perspectives of its heroes. Although all the PvP content will be available to players that own the first game, the story mode will be exclusive to Overwatch 2.
No release date is currently available for Overwatch 2, but it has been confirmed for PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Switch.
