The Starbreeze Studios promised to release Overkill’s The Walking Dead game in February of this year. However, the publisher has postponed the release of the game indefinitely. According to GamesIndustry.biz, “Starbreeze has delayed the game while it is "currently evaluating and reviewing [it's] performance."
The new release date for Overkill’s The Walking Dead for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is not yet available. Starbreeze is going to reveal the details another time.
Initially, Overkill’s The Walking Dead was supposed to start simultaneously on all platforms in early November 2018. But the console release was moved in August 2018 to February 6, 2019, in the USA and February 8, 2019, in Europe.
Starbreeze is now experiencing a series of failures: Overkill’s The Walking Dead has been developed for too long and does not shine in sales, and the failure of RAID: World War II hit hard on finances. The company changed its CEO in December 2018, and also hinted that they were going to get rid of the VR department. Starbreeze was engaged in StarVR virtual reality technology.
It is worth noting that, despite all the problems, we are not talking about closing the game. The PC version of Overkill's The Walking Dead still receives updates and will continue to evolve further.
Overkill’s The Walking Dead is a cooperative shooter in the universe of The Walking Dead from the creators of PayDay with elements of role-playing, stealth and horror. The game is closest to the mix of Left 4 Dead and PayDay from the same studio - TWD placed great emphasis on teamwork and interaction of players, without which each mission would be doomed to failure. There are several types of missions in the game, during which players must perform various assignments. Along the way, you need to fend off zombies (although it is advisable to do everything quietly) or from other survivors who can also attack a group of players.
