OpTic Gaming announced the release of its Gears of War team earlier today via Twitter. In a heartwarming video, the team talked about their time at OpTic and their achievements.
Signed in August 2016, the team went on to win 17 out of 19 Gears of War 4 events. In the two they didn't win, the team came second (GPC Mexico City Open 2017) and fourth (GPC Las Vegas Open 2018).
Shortly after OpTic's announcement, the team's coach, Nicholas “Ashes” Ridgeway posted a tweet of his own. In it he states that the team are looking for a new organisation to join in anticipation of Gears of War 5's release in September.
Their release comes about a month after OpTic Gaming was acquired by Immortals Gaming Club through its purchase of OpTic's holding company, Infinite Esports & Entertainment. Their desire to join a new organisation could indicate that the team and OpTic's new management probably didn't share the same plans for the future.
