Last night, popular Street Fighter V player Du "NuckleDu" Dang announced his retirement from competitive gaming. His tweet didn't go into detail but advised fans to make the best of their lives.
I will be putting my controller down now. Furthermore, I will step away from social media in general since I can't offer you guys anything anymore. Life is short and unforgiving. Call loved ones, make amends, go outside, and don't let social media consume you. Take care. <3— Du Dang (@NuckleDuDang) July 7, 2020
A few days ago, NuckleDu's close friend and fellow competitor, Kevin "DualKevin" Barrios, revealed that the Capcom Cup 2016 champion had been in a bad car crash. In a follow-up tweet, DualKevin stated, "Okay yall Du is receiving treatment and is expected to make a long but full recovery."

It appears that his early retirement is a result of this car accident, but they've kept the details to themselves. Being a well-liked and respected member of the FGC, many shared words of support with the retired player and wished him well.
NuckleDu was a Capcom Cup finalist in Street Fighter X Tekken and Street Fighter IV, but it was his victory in the first Capcom Cup event for Street Fighter V that boosted his popularity. The Guile player recognized for his aggressive playstyle, which is the opposite of the defensive style the character is known for, setting him apart as a very skilled player.
NuckleDu was also known for his compassion and love for the FGC. In the past, he's sponsored less privileged players to compete at EVO and did a lot to help the community grow.
The WePlay! Editorial team wishes NuckleDu a swift recovery and success in all his endeavors.
