Now the Belgian players can’t buy loot-boxes in PES 2019 as well

The Belgian lawmakers strike again! Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 has to abandon their loot-boxes as a source of revenue due to a decision made by the Belgian Gaming Commission.

The funny thing is that many players genuinely don’t understand why a publisher would apologize for getting rid of microtransactions in a game. It seems to be an elegant decision overall because the loot boxes (alas) are still in place, the but players can only earn them, not purchase them.

Games like Overwatch, CS:GO, and Heroes of the Storm have already been hit by the Brussels law-makers who consider loot-boxes a form of gambling. FIFA, the direct competitor of PES, also was compelled to take action and discontinue “FIFA points” altogether.

Researchers have found that loot boxes could be a trigger of a person’s urge to gamble. That means that people, who suffer from gambling addiction or are prone to gambling, could lapse by playing video games.
