Two talented people - Wan Hazmer, the lead game designer of Final Fantasy XV and Daim Dziauddin, the Street Fighter V concept artist teamed up in developing a game called No Straight Roads.
“In our game music is power!”
The developers posted a video on the main YouTube channel of the company, which tells some details about the game, as well as about the work of the studio itself.
A company of young people, inspired by the idea of playing through the knowledge of music, announced the project last year. Moreover, the game was awarded the Best Audio Award and IGA Grand Prix at Taipei Game Show’s Taipei Indie Game Award 2019.
The GameStart Asia 2018 visitors had the opportunity to try the game in action last year in Singapore. You can watch a few minutes of gameplay if you are not against spoilers.
The game turned out to be pretty colourful, with a unique atmosphere and a good plot. The main idea of the developers is the strengthening of the role of sound and music in the gameplay, but this doesn't turn No Straight Roads into a rhythmic game. The music here changes the environment, turning it into a weapon. The style of music also depends on the style of play. The choice of tracks is wide: from rock to dance electronic music. The developers didn’t complicate the game: the musical bombs fall to the beat of the current track.
The basis of the plot of the game is that the rock band enters the fight with a powerful record company. The main villains from EDM are producers and musicians who have a contract with the company.
No Straight Roads will be released in the spring of 2019 on PC and PS4.
