We reported yesterday that PSG.LGD dropped out of MDL Macau 2019 because one of their players Yang "Chalice" Shenyi had severe health issues.
According to an announcement made on Weibo, Newbee will fill the slot previously occupied by PSG.LGD. The decision makes sense, as the team was a runner up in the Qualifier were it lost to Invictus Gaming.
Unfortunately, Newbee will travel to China with a revamped roster. Instead of Thiay "JT-" Jun recently loaned from Mineski, the team will play with Wen "awen" Lipeng, the offlaner from team Mr Game Boy owned by the Newbee organization. It seems like Newbee are still searching for an optimal roster since they lost both qualifiers to the DreamLeague S11 Major and the StarLadder Minor.
Here is the list of teams, participating in the event:
- Virtus.pro (Invited)
- Vici Gaming (Invited)
- Team Liquid (Invited)
- World Evil Geniuses (Invited)
- EHOME (The winners of Dota2 Professional League Season 6)
- Royal Never Give Up (Qualified)
- Invictus Gaming (Qualified)
- Newbee (Qualifier runner-up, Invited instead of PSG.LGD)
MDL Macau 2019 takes place between February 20 and February 24, the prize pool of the tournament is $300,000. The event is not a part of Dota Pro Circuit.
