Respawn has already officially confirmed that Season 1 for Apex Legends will bring another new weapon – the second addition to the list of guns since the release of the Havoc rifle. The developers also warned the gamers that they should not rely on the datamined information due to its potential irrelevance.
But boy, here we again! Dataminers have once again searched for clues in the game’s files, and they’ve discovered that there are several – more than one – new weapons’ 3D models for Apex Legends. RealApexLeaks (via Twitter) has recently posted the leaked weapons, and there’re five new guns in total – EPG, Softball, Defender, Archer, and ARL. We can categorize these weapons into two separate groups – the ones that belong to the existing Titanfall lore, and the ones that don’t. EPG, Softball, and Archer belong to the former category, and while EPG is definitely a welcome addition to Apex Legends, Softball and Archer are somewhat questionable – since they are grenade and rocket launchers respectively. They might well be exclusive to air drops only, though.
The latter category includes Defender and ARL. Defender has a strong resemblance to the Charge Rifle, so it might turn out to be an existing Titanfall weapon after all. On the contrary, ARL doesn’t inherit any specific design decisions from the Titanfall’s “armoury”, so it’s a completely original gun.
Whether or not these weapons make it to the game remains to be seen. It’s highly unlikely that we’ll see any of them during Season 1 since the next new gun is strongly rumoured to be the L-STAR LMG.
