According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is working on a new animated movie name Mortal Kombat: Scorpion’s Revenge. The film has an expected June 2020 release.
Several big names are behind the project, like Dexter's Jennifer Carpenter as Sonya Blade and Community’s Joel McHale lending his voice to Johnny Cage. Other cast members include Artt Butler as Shang Tsung, Jordan Rodrigues as Lui Kang, Steve Blum as Sub-Zero, Ike Amadi as Jax Briggs, Robin Atkin Downes as Kano, David B. Mitchell as Raiden and Grey Griffin as both Kitana and Satoshi Hasashi.
As for the minds behind the production, we have the script written by Supernatural's Jeremy Adams and directed by Ethan Spaulding of Batman: Assault on Arkham. Mortal Kombat co-creator, Ed Boon will also serve as creative consultant, Sam Register as executive producer, Rick Morales as producer and Jim Krieg as the co-producer.
Besides Mortal Kombat: Scorpion’s Revenge, fans also still have the upcoming Mortal Kombat live-action movie, which arrives in 2021. Directed by Greg Russo, it promises to have all the blood gore and violence the franchise is known for.
