The streaming service Netflix published a financial report and for the first time shared statistics on watching shows and movies. According to the service, the number of its paid subscribers reached about 139 million. During the last quarter of last year, 1.5 million residents of the United States and another 7.3 million people worldwide received a subscription. Online cinema revenue for this period increased by 27%. Annual income showed an increase of 35% to $ 16 billion.

According to Variety, Fortnite is the only game recognised by Netflix as a competitor in the letter. Its popularity bothers the company more than the threat from Hulu, Amazon Prime or Disney + streaming services.

“Our focus is not on Disney+, Amazon or others, but on how we can improve our experience for our members.”

Fortnite bypasses Netflix largest audience. The number of players in the Battle Royal from Epic Games has reached 200 million. At the same time, the number of Netflix viewers is 139 million.

This statement allows you to take a different look at the competition between large companies - after all, the Netflix service is really fighting not only for being the best streaming platform. In a standard American home, where the whole family gathers in the living room in front of one big TV, there is competition for the type of content running on TV at the moment. The increased popularity of Fortnite displaces Netflix because the TV is occupied by children playing on the TV console.
