Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for their animated movie, Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge. The exclusive IGN reveal shows off most of the cast from the first game and more.
After several years of content, the Mortal Kombat story has expanded upon the activities surrounding the events of Johnny Cage’s first tournament. That’s why NetherRealm Studios rebooted the game with 2011’s release Mortal Kombat, but it’s unclear if the movie will follow the reboot or move things in a slightly different direction.
In the trailer, we get to hear a few of the characters speak, like Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, Shang Tsung, and Raiden. The story is about Scorpion exacting his revenge upon Sub Zero, but it looks like we also get to see what the other characters are going through as well. Patrick Seitz of Mortal Kombat (2011) returns to reprise his role as the ninja from hell instead of Mortal Kombat 11’s Ron Yuan, which could be a coincidence but could also be a throwback to the older game.
No specific release date was shown in the trailer, but Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge will arrive in Spring 2020. The movie will be available on home video and should tide us over until the release of 2021’s live-action film.
